WHAT CAN YOUNGER CHILDREN ENJOY?

Universal Studios Orlando has plenty for younger kids: for example, the E.T. Adventure, a fantasy experience where you ride your own bike through the night sky. It’s also right by the Woody Woodpecker Kid Zone, which also has Fievel’s Playground, with tubes, slides, a giant spider web, and a water slide; A Day in the Park with Barney; Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster; Curious George Goes to Town; and the Animal Planet Live show. Everyone will get a kick out of the Shrek 4-D Adventure, a 3-D film with funny special effects. There’s also the mischievous mayhem of the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem.

The Mummy is a super-thrill0based coaster based ride that will satisfy those craving all the bells and whistles of the movie, too!

WHAT ABOUT FAMILY FUN IN ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE?

The unique and exciting rides are what draw the Orlando visitors, both local and globally. The Simpson’s Ride is a motion simulator ride as whacky as the show itself. Revenge of the Mummy is an in-the-dark coaster with pyrotechnics and some unexpected dips and turns: state-of-the-art, and lots of fun even for kids as young as six. The ride is fast and furious, and can be a bit scary for younger children; riders must be 48″ high. Men in Black Alien Attack is an interactive experience that allows you to shoot aliens. More fun experiences include Twister’s simulated tornado, Terminator 2: 3D Battle Across Time and Earthquake: The Big One, a simulated quake in a subway station that can so be a bit scary fire explosion, rocking motions and gushing water. But most kids and adults will want to gravitate toward the thrill coasters at Islands of Adventure’s just a short walk away, with thrill coasters, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride,  as well as the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, an exciting 3-D simulator thrill ride that got even better with a 2012 makeover. Islands of Adventure also has three fun wet rides. Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls, in Toon Lagoon, which is similar to Disney’s Splash Mountain; you will get completely soaked so wear a poncho if you can stash one in your bag. Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge Rat Barges will soak you, too. The Jurassic Park ride is also a top attraction that ends with a good soaking after a good chute drop. In the Lost Continent, Poseidon’s Adventure is a fun attraction also, ending with a grand fire and water battle. Kids will also enjoy the mischievous world of the Cat in the Hat.

WHAT ABOUT THRILL RIDES FOR THRILL SEEKERS?

Islands of Adventure has top attractions for teens, tweens and adults who love the thrill coasters, like and the Dragon Challenge and the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Doctor Doom’s Fearfall, which yanks you 150 feet up, then lets you drop. There;s also the the brand-new Transformers: 3-D The Ride, an exciting  simulator ride battling Megatron. You can also battle villains on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man®, launch from zero to 40 mph in two seconds flat on The Incredible Hulk Coaster, and plunge down an 85-foot waterfall to escape the jaws of a hungry T-rex on the Jurassic Park River Adventure®. The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit played along, at your pick, with a  legendary Aerosmith song background  shoots you out at mega miles per hour and provides minutes of rokcin’ roller coastin’ excitement. It’s not for the faint at heart but easily found by the giant red guitar positioned right outside. It’s much faster to ride the single rider line but if you insist on group rides, be prepared to wait a while. NOTE: Harry Potter “theme park within a theme park” is still a top draw for all ages.
